Innovative Salt Décor

The first salt rooms that emerged in North America had a European design element of looking like the rock salt chambers from the underground salt mines.  The initial types of products, compounds, and construction materials that were first utilized were not as eco-friendly to the standards needed for the salt room’s effectiveness as well as designing systems to minimize salt corrosiveness of the space and/or facility.

SALT Chamber was the first company to design eco-friendly salt rooms using only materials that are suitable for those with allergies and respiratory conditions.

Equally important is the attention to detail that SALT Chamber provides by ensuring the proper placement and design of the heating, ventilation, and conditioned air systems of the specific salt room work in tandem with the SALT FX® halogenerator.  This applies to those salt rooms that are becoming certified halotherapy/salt rooms.

SALT Chamber has been the leader and innovator in developing unique salt décor themes, applications, and installation methodologies. While oftentimes salt materials are used as an architectural/design element for a salt room, salt rooms are not required to use salt for the décor to be considered a salt room or to provide effective halotherapy.  It’s all about the halogenerator. Likewise, there are also many ways for utilizing salt décor in other applications such as featured walls in spas, treatment rooms, relaxation rooms, saunas, restaurants, and commercial and residential spaces, however, there are no inherent health and wellness benefits. Finally, SALT Chamber has been working with innovative architects and designers from around the world to create unique salt room décor themes that encompass a variety of material elements such as stone, leather, wood, concrete, quartz and other natural products. New and emerging ideas are being created that incorporate various elements.

Why Himalayan Salt Décor

Since 2012, SALT Chamber has been using Himalayan salt for décor as opposed to white/grayish rock salt from various regions such as Poland, or Dead Sea salt from Israel, as well as other regional salts.  Himalayan salt is very unique in terms of rich color variations, hues, transparency and has a unique structure of the Himalayan salt element itself.

SALT Chamber has partnered with designated local mining companies in perfecting our specific décor elements and materials that are Architectural Grade Quality to be used for our architectural features and design elements.  Our partners are registered with the FDA, are in full compliance with the Bioterrorism Act of 2002, and share our commitment to high quality and production standards while preserving the environment and taking care of their employees and communities.

While there have been some misconceptions as well as claims from others that Himalayan salt provides various benefits from releasing negative ions into the environment to purifying the pollutants in the air, this is completely false and inaccurate information verified by physicists, chemists, scientists, and medical professionals.  At best, Himalayan salt in great quantities does have a certain vibrational frequency and thus can alter the ‘mood’ or ‘feeling’ of being in an enclosed space with that much of a natural element. Himalayan salt, especially when backlighted, does provide a glowing amber/pinkish/orange hue of color that often is associated in the color spectrum that resonates with lower frequencies, which create moods and feelings of relaxation, calmness, and rest.
